Demi Lovato’s blonde vs. Carly Rae Jepsen’s red: Which popstar’s new hair colour do you like best?
Who doesn’t love a good change? Two of the music industry’s top talents, Demi Lovato and Carly Rae Jepsen, certainly enjoy switching things up—both popstars debuted radically new hair colours last night and we absolutely love the results.
First up: Demi Lovato. She’s ditched her raven locks for a delightful shade of honey-blonde. (Lovato showed off her new hair colour yesterday evening, when she was honoured for her charitable work at the National Children’s Mental Health Awareness Day.) Although we’ve seen her go blonde before, this time around the the X Factor judge paired the colour change with a shorter cut. Together, the new colour and cut has a very sophisticated look and it paired beautifully with her all-white ensemble at the ceremony.
While it’s hard for brunettes to make the transition to blonde, here’s why Demi Lovato’s new blonde hair works: the darker tones of blonde and honey lowlights that frame her face keep it from looking too light, while offering a better colour match to her still-dark eyebrows. (Also, we don’t doubt that she had a very talented professional doing the dye work. Never DIY a brunette-to-blonde transition!)
As for Carly Rae Jepsen, the singer (and former FASHION cover girl) may be just as well known for her dark fringe as she is for Call Me Maybe. Fans can be happy that the fringe is still there—but Jepsen has lightened her hair with splash of red. That’s right: Carly Rae Jepsen is now a redhead. She instagrammed a picture of her fiery new hair colour last night, saying that she’s always wanted to give red a try. And we’re pretty glad she did—the colour suits her very well.
