Charlotte Tilbury Just Announced a Major Charitable Donation for the Launch of Hot Lips 2

Tilbury is donating one million British pounds to Women for Women International.

The second wave of Charlotte Tilbury’s popular Hot Lips line of lipstick is set to launch next month, and the follow-up comes tied to a serious commitment to the empowerment of women around the world. The collection, which originally launched in 2016 with each of its 12 shades named for a different female celebrity such as Nicole Kidman and Cindy Crawford, has from its outset had a mission of celebrating women, and Hot Lips 2 goes several steps further in advancing that cause: the brand has pledged to donate £1 million British pounds to Women for Women International.

Tilbury has been committed to the charitable organization since the outset of the original Hot Lips line, donating a portion of proceeds from lipstick sales to the charity—a total of £190,526 to date. Women for Women International has been working since 1993 to provide opportunities for economic empowerment to 478,000 marginalized women in war-torn and conflict-ridden countries—Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo, Northern Iraq, Afghanistan, Nigeria, South Sudan, Uganda, Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of the Congo—offering the programs, support and tools women need to become self-sufficient.

The pledge represents the charitable organization’s largest corporate donation to date. “To know that Charlotte believed in our work and is ready to commit the full force of her business to bringing about change for women in some of the world’s most dangerous places is truly inspirational,” says Brita Fernandez Schmidt, Women for Women International’s executive director and senior vice president for global partnerships. “This generosity doesn’t just have an impact on women who take part in the programme—the families and communities of the women we serve will also feel the ripple effects of change.”

For Tilbury, the partnership is a natural fit for the lipstick line, which she created with a goal of helping women feel empowered. “Since I can remember, I have always believed that lipstick has a magical, secret, transformative power,” says Tilbury. “I would watch my mother Patsy applying her ruby red lipstick. She would always tell me as she put it on…lipstick is instant glamour and it will take you anywhere! I understood from an early age that lipstick empowers confidence.”

Each shade of Hot Lips 2 will also be dedicated to iconic women and men, though fans of the collection will have to wait a little longer to hear who will get the honours this time around. One thing is confirmed: the lipstick line’s second iteration will be centred around those who are “rule breakers, record makers and history shakers.”
