For her Spring/Summer 2016 runway shows, Diane Von Furstenberg borrowed beauty inspo from her own personal style in the 70’s; Big, amazing hair paired with gorgeously rimmed turquoise eyes (Studio 54-style done by the amazing Pat McGrath). Of all the springtime trends, I was most excited about this particular look. With a bright focus on the eyes, I can mix up my usual routine of doing a bright lip.

For this look, I started with a neutral paint pot from MAC on my lids before applying a light shimmery cream/pink as a highlight on the inner corners and below my brows. I then used a cream liner in turquoise as my base before applying the next set of eye shadows. That way it makes the color extra dense. Then I layered turquoise and green shadows onto the cream, extending it outwards to make a V angle. I concentrated on the darker green tone along the lashes blending up and outwards. To add a little shimmer I patted on a bit of teal pigment just in the center of my lids. With a black liner I gently lined the top lashes and blended out with a pencil brush. Load up with mascara and even add a few individual lashes for a little extra boost. I like to pair this eye with a soft pink lip to keep it looking delicate.

This spring I am all about colour. Pretty pastel eyeshadows, berry lipsticks and jewel toned eyeliners in particular. One look I am currently obsessed with is this bold blue winged eyeliner. After applying a skin toned eyeshadow I used Make Up For Ever’s Artist Liner to line the eye. Next, I used an iridescent blue eyeshadow with an angle brush to lightly blend along the liner to soften it. Since the artist liner doesn’t have a pointed tip, I used a q-tip with makeup remover to clean up the edge of the eyeliner to define the wing. Pair this bold eyeliner with a soft pink blush and nude lip to balance the look.

Gigi, Riri, Taylor and Miley are all sporting Spring’s coolest look. That’s right, bold blue liner is back in a big way! It’s easy to take this Spring trend from the catwalks of Paris and incorporate it into your daily beauty routine. In fact, blue liner helps brighten your look by making the whites of your eyes appear even whiter!

Now finding the right liner isn’t as hard as you think. Do you want matte, glossy, ink, gel, crayon? It all depends on what you’re comfortable with, but I know you won’t have trouble finding a variety of blues in different formulas and textures. Brands like Stila, Inglot, Maybelline and Kat Von D have jumped on the bold blue bandwagon already, so your search should be quick and easy!

I like Wet n Wild’s Mega Liner in Voltage Blue. It’s a liquid liner that dries down matte and lasts all day.

And of course, if you want to try a pale or electric blue shade, you should probably line (or tightline) your upper lashes with a darker eyeliner shade first. Have fun with it and maybe forgo a basic black. Try navy or even a dark brown.

I like Wet n Wild’s ProLiner Graphic Marker in Airliner Blue. It’s a fine-tipped marker that really creates a precise tightline.
Pairing a complementary eyeshadow shade will really constrast the bold blue and make it stand out. To figure out the best shade to complement, I just pull out my handy colour theory wheel and look for what sits across from blue and… orange it is!

I like blending the warm browns from Too Faced Chocolate Bon Bons with the orange tones from Zoeva’s Cocoa Blend.

And to finish off the look, I like to stick to warmer tones for the lips and cheeks too. This will really keep the focus on the eyes!
