The Air France pilot strike is effing up everyone’s PFW plans. For those killing time in the airport, check out our picks for best of beauty in Milan.

1. Craft dinner at Fendi
Peter Philips must have been a kindergarten teacher in his previous life; arts and crafts projects have become his calling card ever since he applied gold and silver leaves lid-to-brow at Fendi Spring 2012. Since then he’s embellished eyes with everything from shredded neoprene swimsuits, to shards of mirror. (He’s also the man who bejeweled arches at Chanel Fall 2012.) But, back to this season: at Fendi, Philips drew a bold stroke of black liner and then adhered a matchstick-thin strip of pale blue leather above it. We’ll be dining out on this one until we see what Philips does in Paris.

2. Statement lips at Missoni
This lip look isn’t complicated or unusual. Nevertheless, we love the matte finish and pinkish red pigment that Lucia Pieroni created using a blend of two M.A.C lipsticks. Maybe it’s the fact that apart from standouts like the Fisher Price-pink lips at Moschino and flamenco-red mouths at Dolce and Gabbana, there wasn’t much happening south of the eyes in Milan this season.

3. Skinny braids at Giamba
Orlando Pita’s fine motor skills were on point at Giamba where he wove tight and tiny braids, beginning at the crown and moving through the centre part. It seems the stylist who famously hates offering tips and tricks for how the average women can recreate his looks, may have had a change of heart. Per his Instagram post: “It’s young, it’s fresh, and girls, maybe you could do it yourselves if you know how to [do] #cornrows.”

4. Gym hair at Bottega Veneta
Since it’s a luxury house’s take on sport, we’re talking invitation-only-insane-monthly-membership-fees-gym hair. Guido Palau spritzed heads with a mattifying hairspray before spinning strands into a haphazard bun. He then placed floral combs here and there, a finishing touch that would definitely turn heads when you walk by the cardio section.

5. Checking all the boxes at Prada
There was a lot going on at Prada that we loved. #1: Gemma Ward’s comeback. #2: Sideburns. Guido Palau trimmed models’ hair around the face making wisps that he then slicked to heads to create faux side burns. #3: The liner. She’s done so many of them in her career, Pat McGrath could probably do a perfect inky wing like this in her sleep. #4: The brows. A line tracing the arch was meant to feel hallucinogenic. File this under Power Brows, a movement that picked up momentum in New York at Badgley Mischka and Rodarte.
