Because spring is a period of renewal, it’s about time we take the hint and give ourselves a fresh new look by experimenting with the bright liners and shadows that have spent the winter months hibernating in our makeup bags. Whether it’s swapping a dull shade of grey for a neon liner, or opting for a pink lip rather than a deep plum, a spring beauty upgrade will instantly lighten up your face and make you look prepared for the warm, spring weather.

We asked our Beauty Panel how they’re changing up their makeup routine as the weather gets warmer. Read on to find out!

The tendency to go for vibrant colours is certainly prevalent during the summer months (there’s just something about sunshine that brings out that “need” to be bright and bold). I personally find the perfect complement to tanned skin to be slightly more muted. Think: cooler neutrals for a sun-kissed and unfussy look.

Using a pale pink stick shadow as a base, I layered on a rose gold shade all over my lids before adding a taupe into the crease for some dimension. Not wanting my eyes to be all about liner, a dark eyeshadow used as liner and applied with an angle brush gave a smudgy but still defined effect. To keep my eyes looking bright, I used a nude pencil along my lower waterline. Next, I dusted bronzer all over my face and added a bit of cheek colour with a pink satin creme blush. A matching pink lip completed the look!

With the changing of the season comes the fun opportunity to renew your makeup style. In preparation for the warmer weather, and to say adios to winter, I love to start my springtime beauty routine with a natural looking self-tanner. This will give sun-deprived winter skin a new, beautiful glow.

As for my makeup routine, I always start off with a minimum of SPF 30 sunscreen (no matter what season it is). For spring I like to keep my skin extra hydrated, as I’m a fan of the glowy look. After using moisturizer I like to use a hydrating concealer, so my skin stays nice and fresh. During these warmer months I love to use dual-purpose tints and stains. Here I am using Lollitint smudge proof stain from Benefit tapped onto my cheeks, and also onto my lips. I tend to only powder where necessary, usually just along the T-zone area. I finish my skin with a nice dose of bronzer and a dash of highlighter to the cheekbones (so pretty in the sunshine!).

I’m really enjoying the bright eyeliners this year. I especially like the look of liner applied so thick it could pass as eye shadow (seen at a few of the Spring 2015 Fashion shows, such as Honor at NYFW). White, turquoise, and electric blue are currently my favorites, but I feel any colour is good to go for this trend. I like to add only a swipe of mascara to my lashes, and leave the rest of my lid bare for this look. I find this really lets the colour pop!
