How to Style Your Winter Workout Wardrobe

Photography by Edward Row

Our workout routines can take a turn for the worst in winter. The temptation of Netflix and comfort food is at an all-time high, and we need every little trick in the book to commit. One thing that really helps me is to have the right gear that I feel fantastic in (read: sweat-wicking and flattering styles). Also, getting dressed for the gym at home or at work puts me in the mindset of exercising so my gazillion excuses won’t derail me. Another thing that helps is if I wear my sports bra and leggings as part of my work-day outfit along with an oversized sweater and boots.

So to prep myself for the impending frigid temps and mojo loss, I visited the newly opened Yorkdale Lululemon to chat with Judy Rasky, personal shopping lead, who helped me select a transitional head-to-toe look. (The Yorkdale location just launched the free service, btw, so anyone can book an appointment.) The first step Rasky recommends is choosing a solid base, which means a supportive sports bra and killer leggings. Then, you can throw on any lightweight tank overtop. To get you to and from the gym, layer a long-sleeved top (wear it during warm-up, too) and a vest or a lightweight jacket. (If you’re really brave, you can wear the whole outfit for outdoor runs.)

If you buy anything, get the Like Nothing tights—if I could wear them every day I would. They’re soft and high-waisted and hold things just where you want them. Happy Shopping!

Here are the items I chose:
