4 Victoria’s Secret Angel-Approved Workouts to Try ASAP

If you think being a Victoria’s Secret Angel is all fun and games, you’ve got it wrong. The bombshells may have won the genetic lottery but they also need to stick to strict work out plans to keep their bodies in top, runway-strutting shape. While we start our own prep for swimsuit season (it’s only a few months away!), we look to the VS girls’ Instagram accounts for fitness inspiration and awesome workout style. Luckily, Canada is home to two of the largest Victoria’s Secret stores in the world with the newest location on Ste-Catherine in Montreal. To celebrate the opening, I spent the day with the Victoria Secret team shopping the store for the best exercise gear to test drive. Check out my top picks for Angel-approved workout wear and get ready to #trainlikeanangel.

1. Ballet barre

Besides her friendship with bff Taylor Swift, Karlie Kloss known for her svelte frame. The model stays slender and strong with classes like ballet barre which focus on keeping muscles toned and sculpting dancer-like bodies. It’s no wonder she’s got so much grace. For your own workout, make sure your clothing is close to the body to keep the focus on form and posture. A skintight legging like the Knockout Limited-edition tight ($95, victoriasseceret.com) is stretchy enough for leg lifts but thick enough to hold everything in place.

2. Boxing

While Gigi Hadid may seem bubbly and sweet, she’s also known for hitting the gym for kick ass boxing classes. These high intensity sweat sessions make you look pretty tough, especially when you’re wearing hand wraps and boxing gloves. Keep your cool in a Rocky Balboa-inspired pair of shorts like The Player run short ($33,victoriasseceret.com). This workout is for you if you’ve got energy to spare and anger to release.

3. Surfing

Behati Prinsloo is the definition of cool girl with a rock star hubby and a sun kissed surfer look. Her workout regime varies but time in the water surfing definitely helps carve out her killer abs and build upper body strength. If surfing is a pipe dream, there’s dry, indoor surf simulation classes to try like Surfset in Toronto. If you’re holding out for the real deal, look for a full coverage bathing suit like the Victoria Secret Surf Zip One-piece ($78,victoriasseceret.com) to avoid any Janet Jackson slips.

4. Aerial yoga

Although the Victoria’s Secret Angels don’t actually have wings, Candice Swanepoel gets some serious air when she practices aerial yoga. This incredible looking workout has yogis looking like circus stars, suspended from soft fabric loops which opens up the body and creates space with the help of gravity. To keep “the girls” from giving way to gravity too, look for a supportive bra that hugs your chest tightly and comes up high enough to keep everything in place, like the Angel by Victoria Secret Mesh Sport Bra ($53,victoriasseceret.com).
