Just like we’ve become accustomed to that fact that we’re likely to be knee-deep in snow for the next six months, we know that eventually, spring will return, bringing with it a whole new batch of newness. And with fashion week just having wrapped in New York, London, Milan and Paris, we’re especially fresh on what newness just might be.

Many top Spring 2015 trends were re-imaginations of old ones, most notably, florals, a perennial favourite. This season, blooms were given the tropical treatment, with everyone from Erdem to Peter Pilotto adding a bit of heat to this familiar spring motif.

Both white and neutral shades were frequently worn head-to-toe (see: Christian Dior, Stella McCartney and Christopher Kane), directly opposing another one of Spring 2015’s trends definitive trends: rainbow-bright rave wear. Jeremy Scott, fashion’s patron saint of all things OTT, had a lot to do with it, as his wares graced the stage at Moschino, his namesake label and the streets outside the shows.

Meanwhile, fall’s sixties trend jumped a decade; softening its mod edges with groupie-approved collections from Gucci, Saint Laurent and Dries Van Noten.

As we buckle down and brace for winter, it’s nice to dream a little dream of spring. And oh, what a fun spring it will be.
