TIFF 2016: 46 Photos From Our Two Lovers and a Bear After-Party

You know you’re at a decent TIFF party when the stars show up. But when the stars mingle instead of hanging in the VIP room, and the stars stay until the party winds down, you’re at an especially decent TIFF Party. Such was the case at the FASHION and Men’s FASHION party to celebrate the premiere of Two Lovers and a Bear, in theaters October 7.

Lead actors Tatiana Maslany (Orphan Black) and Dane DeHaan (Life) hung out and enjoyed themselves. DeHaan graces the fall cover of Men’s FASHION, and Maslany is on FASHION‘s November cover, where she wears a cream Greta Constantine gown. Both talked with attendees and stopped to pose in the Birks Portrait Studio, worked by Toronto photography duo Shalan and Paul. Also on hand, DeHaan’s wife Anna Wood and director Kim Nguyen.

When asked how she was handling the transition from small-screen sci-fi superstar to big-screen festival actor, she insists it’s easy. “I’ve been in quite a few independent films,” says Maslany, who actually won a World Cinema Special Jury Prize at Sundance in 2010 for her part in the Canadian film Grown Up Movie Star. “This worlds feels natural to me. The other stuff? Less so.”

Hosted just steps from Two Lovers and a Bear‘s red carpet premiere at the Elgin Winter Garden, party-goers imbibed over bottles of Grolsch, Kim Crawford wines, Iceberg Vodka, Eska water and Thirsty Buddha. The space’s rooftop skylights, chalkboard art by Ilona Fiddy and velvet-roped VIP area, with a lovely waiter doling out glasses of Moët & Chandon (score!), lent the loft-style space a New York after-hours vibe. Music was provided by DJ Conor Cutz,  and, best of all, after knocking back one last glass of champers, guest meandered home, or off to another TIFF party with a bag of goodies supplied by Batiste, Birks, Bite Beauty, Clarins, Dr. Roebuck’s and Tweezerman.
