Simons Opens In Calgary: 13 Photos From Inside the VIP Preview

Calgary, you’re welcome.

That’s right, Calgary is the latest city to get the Simons touch. Simons CEO Peter Simons was in Calgary this week for the company’s official opening at the historic Lancaster Building on 2nd Street between Stephen and 7th Avenues.

“The key for Calgary was to bring Simons to the heart of the city in a way that pairs our contemporary style with the heritage of a historic building,” said Simons.

This is the 14th Simons to open in Canada since the 177-year-old retail giant from Quebec City began its ambitious cross-country push. And if you are familiar with Simons, you’ll know this is a company that loves art. As a result, the retailer commissioned local Calgary artist Maya Gohill to install a three-storey painted mural which runs along the escalators in the Lancaster Building. Elsewhere, Megan Jentsch took to the outdoors to paint two huge graphic murals, and a new portrait (Poet #2) from internationally recognized artist Chris Cran will also hang in the location.

To celebrate this grand arrival, Simons hosted a special VIP preview this week.
