Nicole Richie Teaching Her Pet Chicken How to Strike a Pose is The Funniest Thing You’ll See All Day

Nicole Richie‘s The Simple Life days with former BFF Paris Hilton may be an early aughts memory now, but the 35-year-old designer/actress/mom (she has two kids, Harlow, 9, and Sparrow, 7, with husband/Good Charlotte lead singer Joel Madden) continues to make farm life fashionable with her luxe chicken coop. Oh, and ICYMI: It’s designed to match her Beverly Hills home.
“About three years ago, we decided to add to our family and bought five chickens,” Richie tells Architectural Digest of her feathered friends Tallulah, Philomena, Mama Cass, Sunny, and Daisy. “The new house didn’t have a coop. We had to build them one, so we did a miniature version of my own house in terms of color and style,” she says. “I wanted one color palette throughout. It’s gray.”
Richie gets glam in AD‘s latest issue, wearing a red gown and a feathered headpiece in the coup with her chickens. But day to day, her look is very dressed down. “It’s actually really disgusting in there. I get really dirty,” she says. “I have two pairs of coop shoes that I rotate and a pair of jeans I just want to take off right away, and sometimes I just put on overalls.”
She recently posted a hilarious video giving her chicken Tallulah a crash course in modeling, while being shot for AD. “The key here Tallulah is to never stop moving,” she says. Other pieces of advice include, “Lift your neck high, make it long.”
