Kim Basinger Wows on the Red Carpet at the Fifty Shades Darker Premiere

Kim Basinger made a rare red carpet appearance on Thursday night at the Fifty Shades Darker premiere in Los Angeles, and brought the sexy back in a black, one-shouldered silk gown. The 63-year-old actress/former model plays the role of Elena Lincoln, Christian Grey’s biz partner and ex-lover, in the film based on E.L. James’s best-selling novel, Fifty Shades Darker.
Basinger’s glam gown is a departure from her recent menswear-inspired red carpet fare. Judging by her last few appearances, tailored pantsuits and sleek tux looks are her go-to evening looks. For The Nice Guys premiere in 2016, she opted for a classic tux look, which included a white silk blouse and high gloss oxford shoes.
From steamy 9 1/2 Weeks (1986) to neo-noir crime story L.A. Confidential (she won Best Supporting Actress for her role in this 1997 film), Basinger’s had, and continues to have, an impressive Hollywood ride. Besides her modeling and acting career, Basinger’s high profile marriage to (now ex-husband) Alec Baldwin has also put her in the headlines and tabloids. The Hollywood power couple were married from 1993-2002 and have one daughter, Ireland Basinger-Baldwin, 21, who is a model/actress.
Basinger and Baldwin had a very bitter public divorce, which the actress opened up about in an interview with Net-A-Porter in 2016. “Divorce is hard on a kid, no matter how you cut it. And ours was very public and nasty,” the Oscar winner said. “So I brought up Ireland in a very unconventional way. I just wanted her to be free. If she wanted to have her friends over and write over the walls with pen, that was fine. I wanted her childhood to be full of love and light and animals and friends.”
