Kate Middleton and Sister Pippa Wear Bridesmaid Dresses in this Throwback Wedding Video
Long before Kate Middleton walked down the aisle at Westminster Abbey, wearing a fairytale-worthy custom wedding gown by Alexander McQueen’s Sarah Burton, to marry Prince William, she starred in another wedding.
In footage of her Uncle Gary Goldsmith’s 1991 nuptials (to Miranda Foote) obtained by the Daily Mail , nine-year-old Kate and seven-year-old Pippa smiled for the home video wearing pale pink bridesmaid dresses—poufy sleeves, floral crowns and all. An early fashion statement for the adorable duo. Their younger brother James looked dapper in a tuxedo alongside the men in the wedding party. Even back then, the Duchess of Cambridge looked graceful holding her floral bouquet. Following the family photo shoot outside, the sisters are given little prezzies when everyone is seated inside at a festively decorated table.
While Pippa appears a little shy in the video, she fulfills her bridesmaid duties—and captures everyone’s heart in the process. Who knew she would become the world’s most famous bridesmaid 20 years later? Wearing a beyond-perfect ivory gown by Sarah Burton, Kate’s younger sister put the babe into bridesmaid. With her own nuptials scheduled for this spring (she will wed financier James Matthews on May 20, 2017), the world will be watching to see what the middle Middleton wears on her big day.
