What’s in your bag, Joe Zee?

From his years as Elle Magazine‘s creative director to his recurring role on The City to his current gig as editor-in-chief of Yahoo Fashion, Canadian-born Joe Zee has long-since been at the top of his game. This season, he’s added Old Navy style ambassador to his roster of titles. In town last month to talk all things style, we did just that, adding a bit of snooping to the agenda too. Constantly on the go, Zee carries a filled-to-the-brim duffel bag which includes such workaholic must-haves as a MacBook (his sticker, “Never Not Working,” couldn’t be more accurate), jeans, sunglasses and beat-up Nikes. His prized possession? A “Surfbord” T-shirt gifted from Queen Bey herself.

On Macbook and chargers: “I can’t go anywhere without it. I have to check emails and am always charging my phone…see I charged it this morning and it’s almost dead. And I have my logo on it! There it is, ‘I never stop working’ which is so true! You always have to work hard and try.”

On jeans: “These are my jeans, they’re from here actually [Old Navy]. I’ve got them in like 5 other pairs. See what she’s wearing there, these jeans are like that for me, they’re my yoga pants.”

On Yahoo t-shirt: “I just launched my site, so I had to get the shirt. It’s my Yahoo shirt.”

On Surfboard sweater: “This was given to directly from Beyonce…from her team. It’s one of a kind.”

On books: “I go through obsessions [with books] and right now it’s this, Where Did You Go Bernadette. Had to bring it.”

On shoes and magazine: “Just my Nike’s and some reading.”

“I spend all of my time on flights and constantly working, so whatever makes my trip more comfortable that’s what I do. That’s why the partnership [with Old Navy] just made sense. They like comfort, I like comfort.”
