It’s nearing the end of the year, and with that comes the ultimate end of year party, New Year’s Eve. Choosing what to wear on this occasion—or for any holiday parties–can be tricky, but there were many strong trends that stood out on the Fall 2012 runways that can help you stylishly ring in 2013.

Deep, rich burgundy clothes were seen on the runways of the likes of Peter Som for Fall 2012, but if you want to opt for something other than red around Christmas, then go for crisp, clean white clothing and accessories. Popular on runways such as Prabal Gurung’s, pair a white piece of clothing with a pop of emerald green and some gold jewellery and you’ll be looking festive and on-trend in no time.

Use the same gold jewelry that you wore with your Prabal Gurung-inspired outfit, and pair it with luxurious, rich, embellished and textured pieces that were seen all over the Fall 2012 runways. It will not look out of place when worn at any party during this festive season. Gold brocade accents as seen at Dolce & Gabbana will spruce up any outfit this season, and silver and gold pieces a la Gianfranco Ferre’s Fall 2012 runway show will help you stylishly ring in the New Year. Luxurious pieces in velvet will make any outfit look rich, especially when done in shades such as emerald or burgundy.

And while pastels may make most of us think of spring, many designers including Christian Dior shot down that notion and made pastels a trend for Fall and Winter. From mint, lilac and rose pieces being showcased on Fall 2012 runways, we know that pink and pastels will be huge all over the red carpets come awards season this January.
