Dior Cruise 2018: See the Best Dressed Celebrities + Top Runway Looks
Dior’s latest Cruise 2018 show in California further proves the Golden State is indeed the hottest spot for fashion. For Maria Grazia Chiuri’s first destination runway show, Dior’s creative director picked the Santa Monica Mountains in Upper Las Virgenes Canyon Open Space Preserve in Calabasas as the backdrop for her western-influenced collection. Honestly, it looked like Coachella on steroids. But of course, much, much chicer.
Unlike other designer houses (Tom Ford, Louis Vuitton, Burberry – to name a few) who have recently staged shows in L.A., Chiuri wanted to showcase a different side of Cali cool. “I think the natural element is very strong,” Chiuri told WWD. “I think people choose to live here because there’s big space.”
While the models made their way down the runway sandy trail in rich desert tones and artisanal-inspired pieces that featured fur, embroidery, feathers and fringe (read: chic cowgirl), many of the A-list stars opted for monochromatic pieces. Case in point, Charlize Theron chose a black jacket with fringe sleeves and paired it with skinny trousers, black pumps and aviators. However for Brie Larson, Kate Bosworth and Kiernan Shipka, glam was the name of the game in Chiuri’s much-coveted, dreamy dresses.
But of course, all eyes were on Rihanna. The songstress stepped out in a belted fur coat, jeans and laced-up Doc Marten-like boots, cowboy hat in hand.
