Chanel Couture Fall 2017: See the Best-Dressed Celebs + Top Runway Looks

Just when you thought Karl Lagerfeld couldn’t top his Chanel sets anymore (we’re still thinking about the Fall 2017 life-size rocket), the Kaiser upped the ante and brought the world’s most-admired monument into the Grand Palais. That’s correct. For the Chanel Haute Couture Fall 2017 show, Lagerfeld installed a 38-metre high reproduction of the Eiffel Tower “breaking through” the glass ceiling of the Grand Palais as a centrepiece for the Parisian show.

Emulating the famous parks around Paris we know and adore, green park chairs were “randomly” placed below the tower where the fashionable attendees grabbed a seat. While we are always impressed by the whirlwind trips Chanel’s creative director takes us on via the destination Cruise and Métiers d’Art shows (with the exception of the recent Ritz-Carlton Pre-Fall 2017), we can’t help but have a soft spot for the times he writes a love letter to France and Coco Chanel’s history via his impressive designs.

“It’s a vision of a revived Parisian woman, it is all about cut, shapes, silhouettes,” explains Karl Lagerfeld about the collection in the press release. “Here the line is very delineated and graphic, it’s very modern.”

While chic models parisiennes paraded around the faux parks in an array of classic tweed skirt suits (with matching boat hats), ethereal tulle gowns adorned with multi-coloured feathers and magical wedding dresses, a bevy of the fashion house’s ambassadors sat pretty front row. We spotted familiar faces like Julianne Moore, Cara Delevingne, Tilda Swinton and Kristen Stewart (who looked badass in a strapless sequinned jumpsuit), and also spotted new ones to the Chanel family like Katy Perry, Aziz Ansari and Rowan Blanchard.

But it was the after party that really had everyone talking. After the finale, the fashion crowd headed over to the Palais de Tokyo to celebrate Chanel’s newest fragrance, Gabrielle. (FYI: it’s been 15 years since the designer brand released a new fragrance). The house was ready to celebrate, thanks to a duo performed by Pharrell and Katy Perry.
