World MasterCard Fashion Week may be winding down, but Toronto’s stylish set is still bringing their sartorial A game to the tents. On day four of the Spring 2014 shows jewel tones were the name of the game. Burgundy was by far the most popular colour choice, with the shade splashed on structured hats, tailored pants and faux fur toppers. While one street style star wore burgundy from head to toe, another opted away from the monochromatic look, wearing a slick patent leather splash of the shade across the shoulders of his coat.

Emerald green and topaz yellow items rounded out the jewel tone trend, but the message was clear: when not embracing fall’s black and white trend, consider wearing printed pants, leather mini skirts and oversized coats in rich shades of colour.

And if fall shopping is on your to do list this weekend, let these street style pictures inspire the purchase of a key trend: pleats. From tiny folds to oversized bends, if you’re wearing a skirt this season it’s go pleats or go home.
