Street Style, Milan: Fashion Week winds down with 42 last looks from outside the Fall 2014 shows

A weekend of fashion in Milan brought out the sunshine and, of course, the obligatory bare legs. With the mercury rising (in Europe that is), the fashion elite geared up for what will probably be another sweltering summer and flexed their gams in playful and unique skirts and dresses.
The look of the weekend definitely seemed to be quirky skirts in an array of bright colours and unusual cuts, with nary a plain A-line skirt in sight. Just take a peek at all of the high-cut front slits, origami layers, with everything from a Joe Cool mini to an ankle skimming plaid kilt. Even Carine Roitfeld’s long black pencil skirt had a playful little side slit. Miroslava Duma on the other hand, kept things chic and simple in a variety of matching pantsuits, each featuring high-waisted pleated trousers and a loosely slung jackets.
The unifying factor between all of the looks however was the quirkier and the more singular, the better. Whether it was unique colours—think dusty rose jackets—or unusual prints—ombréd chevron and digitally abstracted pictures overlaid with watercolour splotches among others—there was a plethora of noteworthy pieces. While they might not have had the brand power or logo frenzy like we saw outside the Prada and Fendi shows, save for Anna Dello Russo in head-to-toe Moschino, the outfits still packed a sartorial punch.
