Who’s Coming to TIFF 2017?

It’s that time of year again. The countdown to the 42nd annual Toronto International Film Festival is officially on.

All eyes will be on our city this coming September. Running from September 7 to the 12, the Toronto International Film Festival committee announced the first rounds of the highly-anticipated films that will be here for the the week, and just looking at this list is getting us excited. Like really excited.

Though many of the big-ticket films will be making debuts at the Venice and then Telluride (film festivals taking place before TIFF), Toronto is seen as a crucial stop to showcase films in order to score some points during award season and is getting more and more global recognition as years go by. Need us to remind you films like Slumdog Millionaire, Spotlight and Moonlight were all films that got great responses from the T.O. crowd only to pick up Oscars? So yes, TIFF is kind of a big deal.

Now let’s get to the really important question: Who’s coming to Toronto? TIFF 2017 is going to be the starriest one yet. Don’t believe us? For starters, millennial fan faves like Jennifer Lawrence, Emma Stone and Brie Larson will be swinging by. There will be female Hollywood royalty in attendance as well: Nicole Kidman, Angelina Jolie, Halle Berry, Penelope Cruz, and Helen Mirren will each be gracing Toronto with their presence.

But what is a film festival without some eye candy? Benedict Cumberbatch, Andrew Garfield, Idris Elba, Matt Damon and Jake Gyllenhaal will be here, as well as Internet’s hottest silver foxes George Clooney and Steve Carell who will all be stopping by to promo their individual films. There’s even celebs for fans of rap music and comedy! Mary J Blige and Eminem will be hanging around, and so will Jim Cary, Louis C.K., and Ben Stiller.

Eager to know who else you might bump into in the city comes fall? See below for a list of the A-list stars we’re excited to see.
