Saks Fifth Avenue fêtes its new home with a larger-than-life illustration by Shantell Martin

Leading up to its opening in Toronto this February, Saks Fifth Avenue has been marking its territory with a series of stylish and seriously on point events. Earlier this month, the retailer celebrated its upcoming partnership with the National Ballet of Canada, and on Monday, it collaborated with artist Shantell Martin to illustrate its new hometown. Martin, an NYC-based illustrator known for her cartoonish black-and-white doodles, transformed an unassuming studio on the city’s east side into a floor-to-ceiling tapestry of Toronto’s landmarks, style makers and neighborhoods. The installation acted as a setting for the night’s festivities to take place, with partygoers huddling around the artist while she finished off her masterpiece (she even even gave us our own shout out!) taking copious selfies. When in Toronto 2.0.
