Well, what can we say about the VMAs? After 3 hours of staring at the screen with permanently dropped jaws, all we can do is basically concur with Kanye—“I don’t get award shows!” The annual music party continued its flair for the OTT, flashing hints to the most shocking moments in MTV Video Music Awards history throughout the night (cue: Madonna and Britney), just as one Nicki Minaj beef ended, another began, and Kanye announced his 2020 bid for presidency. For her part, host Miley Cyrus was just as kaleidoscopic as you’d imagine, making over 8 outfit changes (honestly, we lost count) and closing the show with a Happy Hippie-led dance party.

Fashion made its biggest mark in VMA history, with Moschino’s Jeremy Scott redesigning the Moonman trophies themselves in rainbow hues and a big ole peace chain. Things on the red carpet were pretty exciting too, with Taylor Swift showing up avec Bad Blood squad in tow. The singer wore a shimmering houndstooth two-piece by Ashish, while bestie Gigi Hadid went for sunflower yellow, in a thigh-high dress by Emilia Wickstead. Our favourites for the night had to be FKA Twigs and Rita Ora, who both smouldered in black lace and feather gowns by Atelier Versace and Vera Wang respectively.
