Katy Perry’s ‘Chained to the Rhythm’ Music Video Is Trippy AF

Katy Perry has finally released her much-teased ‘Chained to the Rhythm’ music video, and it’s creating much buzz on the Internet.

Teaming up with Mathew Cullen once again (she’s previously worked with the director for ‘Dark Knight’ and ‘California Gurls’), she ushers in a new era of Perry for her lastest single—she calls it “purposeful pop.” Unlike her monochromatic (and some might say sub-par) performance at the 2017 Grammys, her new music video shows off her usual candy-pop nature with a pink wig and bright-coloured makeup. But the similarities end there. Given that Perry was a big supporter of the Clinton campaign, we’re not surprised to see the hidden political messages behind the whole project. Taking place in a retro-meets-futuristic time at an amusement park called Oblivia (very subtle, Katy), the video features the songstress singing the catchy tune while taking us on an adventure into this dystopian land, from a state of oblivion to realization. Dark and twisted, right? Just watch the video below and tell us what you think.
