Kate Middleton puts DVF’s iconic wrap dress to good use in Australia

When Diane Von Furstenberg hit the scene back in the ’70s, her wrap dress was the most significant piece in any working woman’s wardrobe. “Feel like a woman, wear a dress,” she often said. What she really meant was “Feel like a woman, while calling the shots like a man.” How fitting it is to see history’s most “real world” Royal sporting one of those iconic dresses today. And digging earth at that!
Earlier today, Duke and Duchess of Cambridge visited Australia’s Blue Mountains. The rugged natural region is a hotspot for adventure-seekers and brushfires alike, the latter of which damaged over 200 properties in the area last year. Arriving by helicopter (Kate’s hair was in a pony for the ride, just FYI), the ever-dutiful couple met with brushfire victims and first responders as well as some adorable Girl Guides who opted to say “princess” instead of “cheese” for their Kate Middleton photo op. The couple also partook in a tree planting ceremony where Kate put that DVF to good use, as she dug some space for the red eucalyptus planted to commemorate last year’s damage.
As mentioned above, Kate wore Diane Von Furstenberg’s Patrice cotton wrap dress, which wouldn’t you know it, is sold out everywhere except for Harvey Nichols. She paired the dress with her trusty navy suede Stuart Weitzman Corkswoon wedges, and her navy Muse clutch. Meanwhile in the jewellery department, she wore Diana’s sapphire and diamond drop earrings, a Mappin and Webb pendant necklace and a Cartier Ballon Bleu watch.
It’ll be a busy day for the Royals tomorrow, as they are set to take part in various Easter-related activities. Stay tuned for all the outfits on Monday!
