Disco nights

With the summer party season coming into full swing (if only the weather were just as ready!), this fashionable girl has been hitting the town as of late. First stop, the Buy Design for Windfall gala at the Fermenting Cellar in the Distillery District.

With proceeds from ticket sales and the silent auction going to Windfall, the only new-clothing bank in Canada, everyone seemed to be in the giving spirit. The total cash grab from the Studio 54-themed evening grossed over $105,000. Dressed to the nine’s in disco attire were Fashion File host, and the night’s MC, Adrian Mainella, with his friend Monica Schnarre, designer’s Philip Sparks and Wayne Clark, Holt Renfrew’s Natalie Lecomte, pr gal (and soon to be wife) Christine Faulhaber, as well as co-chairs Jill Richardson and Tralee Pearce. Our favourite part of the evening, being entertained by the Disco Ducks, who strutted and danced on the disco-ball lined dance floor for much of the night.

The following week the party was on King Street, with yet another supper club to add to it’s menu. But this time with a chic Asian flavour. Hot on the heels of the success of Tattoo Rock Parlour comes Spice Route, again a co-production between Liberty Group’s Nick Di Donato and Ink’s Charles Khabouth. Guests on grand opening night were a who’s who of the Toronto social scene, including National Post columnist Shinan Govani, Zoomer editor Suzanne Boyd, all of the Entertainment Tonight Canada hosts, actor/comedian Pauly Shore (who just happened to be in town), athlete Donovan Bailey, the Designer guys, Paul Venoit host of Star-TV’s Look-a-Like and Brampton-Springdale MP Dr. Ruby Dhalla. With a warm welcome like that, we expect only the best from this new hot spot. In fact, this fashionable girl already has a dinner reservation and a night out planned in the coming weeks, both at Spice Route.
