Anja Rubik is a video star! Guarantee it’s the best thing you’ve seen since “Fashion Shower”
Welcome to the best moment of today: Anja Rubik is in a music video and it’s delightfully ridiculous. “Chleb” features the supermodel walking, singing and eventually flying through cartoon graphics created by Polish artist Dorota Masłowska a.k.a Mister D. Looking about as Eastern Euro as humanly possible, Rubik wears caked shimmer eyeshadow, Kim Mathers-style pink lips, gold chains and a tiara as she mouths words we obviously don’t understand but venture to guess are awesome. Also featured, is a normcore teen transforming into iron man, a guy in drag receiving defibrillator shocks, several loaves of bread and a man playfully grazing his neck with an axe.
So, like, what is going on here? Is this for real? Or is Anja Rubik Poland’s unsung answer to Ryan Trecartin? Is Anna Dello Russo crying inside? (I see your ‘Fashion Shower‘ and raise you one terribly low budge pop song” I imagine she said.) We’ll continue to uncover this magical mystery but until then, enjoy.
