‘Eyebrows on Fleek’ Girl Needs Your Help to Start a Hair and Makeup Line

Remember Peaches Monroee? She’s the girl who coined “eyebrows on fleek” on Vine (R.I.P.) back in June 2014.

Thanks to Peaches (real name: Kayla Newman), “on fleek” became a viral phenomenon, with everyone from Kim Kardashian to Nicki Minaj and even Taco Bell using the term.

Unfortunately for Monroee, however, she received no financial reimbursement for the phrase.

“I gave the world a word. I can’t explain the feeling,” she told The Fader back in 2015. “At the moment I haven’t gotten any endorsements or received any payment. I feel that I should be compensated. But I also feel that good things happen to those who wait.”

Fast forward to 2017 and the Georgia native has now set up a GoFundMe page in the hopes of fulfilling her dream of launching a cosmetics and hair line.

“I came up with the phrase/word ‘Eyebrows on Fleek’. Everyone has used the phrase/word but I haven’t received any money behind it or recognition. But for the most I want to start a cosmetic line and hair line; But I don’t have any money to do so,” she wrote on the page.

“Maybe this can help me with my wishes and dreams. Iam(sic) currently enrolled in college. I’m taking up Nursing…but I also want to make sure I getting the recognition and money I deserve. Any amount can help , Thank you!”

Peaches told The Cut she hopes the line will “bring out her [her] creative side” and help “young ladies and women feel even more beautiful.”

“My plans for the hair line is make sure people enjoy/learn about hair extension, also I want to expand, by reaching millions of people,” she said. “But I do know this is going to be hard work but I am willing to do [it], even while in college.”

So far, Monroee has reached $6,000 of her $100,000 goal, and plenty of support from Twitter, with many users saying the college student really does deserve some sort of compensation for creating “on fleek.”

Here’s hoping Peaches gets her makeup line, and we all get a good brow pencil out of it.
