Negative Space Eyeliner is the Most Refreshing Alternative to a Cat Eye

Close your eyes and picture a full face of makeup—either on yourself or on someone else. What do you see? Flawless skin, maybe some contouring, definitely lipstick, filled in brows and, just guessing here, winged eyeliner? Chances are, yes. Not that there’s anything wrong with that. We spent our teenage years perfecting the technique, so we get the desire to show it off. But after so many years, may we suggest it might be time to switch things up?

One of our favourite eye makeup looks as of late is graphic, negative space eyeliner. We scoured the Instagram account @v93oo, which showcases work by different Instagram makeup artists to its almost 69k followers, and found some of the most creative examples of negative space liner. You already love negative space on your nails—who’s to say you won’t love it on your eyelids?

The result is a super cool, modern look. The only downside? It requires a steady hand, so caffeine addicts, beware.
