6 Last-Minute Halloween Makeup Ideas That Are Totally Easy To Do
In less than 36 hours, the Halloween parties are going to kick-off. While we’re sure many of you are putting last-minute touches on your gold medal-worthy costumes, some of you are probably scrambling around finding a good outfit, thanks to that last-minute invite. When it comes to simple costumes, cats are a no-brainer. A few of our Beauty Panel members have shared tips and tricks on how to do a not-so-basic cat look. One of the most classic, yet cutest ways to pull together a quick Halloween costume is to go with the puuuuurfect kitty cat look. All you need is a black ensemble, a couple different eye shadows, a highlight/contour duo and a little black liner with some mascara. A bonus if you have a cute headband like this one from Forever21 – but just as easy to throw your hair up into a couple double top knots (read: cat ears).
The main thing to concentrate on for this costume is to highlight and contour certain areas to help resemble a cat’s face. Highlight above the lip to make it appear slightly protruded. Also, contour your eyelid crease and follow along down your nose. Then add the little details such as a cute little black nose, whiskers and a black lip. Meow!

So you didn’t plan on going out for Halloween, but you got a last-minute invite to get your spooky on. You want something easy to achieve that you can get right on the first try – why not try out the mermaid look?
I began this look by picking out a colour scheme – blue, purple and teal. I used one of Make Up For Ever’s Aqua XL liners to make my brows teal, as my brown brows didn’t seem very mermaid-like. Then I took a mesh laundry bag and clipped it into my hair, so it laid flat across my face. From there, I took the blue, purple and teal shadows, and contoured my face. Afterward, I took a Becca highlighter in “Pearl” and applied it to the high points of my cheeks, and the centre of my forehead (still over the mesh), to make it look like I had just sprouted out of the ocean.
From here I removed the mesh to reveal a scale pattern. I then used my three shadows and put together a simple eye look, with a black winged liner and some fluffy falsies. To finish off the look, I pulled out a matte purple liquid lipstick, “Unicorn” by Too Faced, then applied more of Becca’s highlighter overtop of the mesh, to give more of that scaley look.
Make some beachy waves in your hair, wear a mesh top, and you’re good to go out trick or treating!

Step 1: Using a liquid marker eyeliner, draw a thin line on either sides of your nose. Darken tip of the nose. Line the entire eye, making a tear drop shape to the inner corners of your eye. This liner is so easy to use, it’s exactly like using a fine tipped felt marker. You can draw with such detail and achieve crisp dark lines with one stroke.
Step 2: Apply your choice of lashes. Define brows with a in brown.
Step 3: Use a liquid liner to define only your upper lip. Add brown and cream contour with the on the entire top half of your face, from your cheekbones up. Then blend, blend and blend that contour.
This is the step where you can be so many different animals. Add leopard spots. Add kitty whiskers. Or even tiger stripes. I like the idea of a circle around an eye for the cutest dog. The possibilities are endless.
Step 4: Add a white liner of choice under the eye, in clustered circles on cheeks/ forehead and finally down the centre of your nose. Spray on a setting spray.
You could put your hair in two high buns and add twigs as antlers.

If you jump at any chance to do a smoky eye, the classic last-minute cat costume is probably for you! You can grab cat ears at any Halloween store (or you can easily make your own with a headband and some felt or construction paper) and just go all out on a gorgeous smoky eye and finish it off with a pretty nude lip. It’s super easy and you’ll be one sexy feline.

Last-minute Halloween party? We’ve all been there! We all know that ‘90’s pop culture is all the rage right now and I wanted to pay homage to one of my favourite shows – Sailor Moon. But going as one of the Sailor Scouts requires a lot more planning (and a costume). So, I decided to do Luna.
It’s a step up from the usual “cat makeup” that’s also a popular last-minute costume. Since her colours were a deep dark purple and a soft pink on her ears, I kept to the colour scheme. And of course, her signature upside-down yellow moon! (Tip: Use a nude eye liner to outline the moon, then fill it in with eyeshadow). Halloween is also the perfect time to try out trends that you normally wouldn’t try, so here’s me doing ombre lips for the first time.

There’s nothing quite as classic as a skull costume for Halloween. With makeup, it’s even easier to achieve. No extravagant, expensive outfit that you’ll only wear for one night – just a few beauty products that you’ve likely already got on hand.
1. The eyes.
Apply a black base to the lid, set with black shadow, then blend with a purple into the crease to create a black smokey eye.
2. The nose.
Using a skeleton photo as reference, use a black cream shadow or eyeliner to create the nose shape.
3. The mouth.
With a fine-tipped liquid liner, extend the edges of the mouth horizontally and draw in shorter vertical lines to represent teeth. No rhyme or reason here. The messier, the better.
4. The contour.
Draw out the cheekbones with a black shadow, then blend downwards with a purple shadow. Carve out hollows near the temples of the face with a black shadow and again, blend around the black with a purple shadow. For added depth, add the purple shadow around the skull nose and the between the brows. The key here is blending. Blend, blend, blend.
And before you know it, you’ll have an easy Halloween look that’s guaranteed to turn a few heads!
