The Beauty Products We’re Loving This Month

FASHION‘s beauty team is made up of Beauty Director Lesa Hannah, Associate Beauty Editor Suzie Michael, and Beauty Writer Madelyn Chung. Each month, they’ll be discussing their favourite new products (whether they’re new-new or just new to them).

W3LL People Bio-Brightener Invisible Powder

LH: I’m all for dewy skin, but a full face of sunscreen often leaves me with an incredibly unattractive greasy sheen. Rather than use blotting papers and risk removing my SPF, I’ve been muting my gleam with W3LL People Bio-Brightener Invisible Powder ($29). It’s a loose powder that I lightly apply over my forehead and chin and it does the job without making me look dry and caked in dust.

bareMinerals Statement Matte Liquid Lipcolour in VIP

The sky's getting brighter – maybe your lip color should too. ? cred: @sephora #regram #gobare #bareMinerals

SM: I’m new to the world of red lipstick, and as of a week ago, I’d only ever found one shade that worked on me. However, it was a lip liner that I just used all over, which is very long-lasting but drying as hell. So when a package of bareMinerals Statement Matte Liquid Lipcolours ($23 each) appeared on my desk recently, with 10 shades of reds and pinks, I was obviously skeptical. But I tried on a pretty orangey red shade called “VIP” and instantly fell in love with it. It’s long-lasting but not so long-lasting that I’d start to wonder how something that adheres to my skin so intensely could be safe and/or legal. It’s the type of matte lipstick you could eat fries while wearing, but not a burger. You know?

Vichy Minéral 89

MC: A recent trip to Iceland made me realize the importance of thermal water. Bathing and drinking in mineral-rich H20 had my skin in the best shape it’s ever been — even my stubborn eczema patches cleared up almost instantly. And though I can’t bring Iceland’s thermal water home with me, I do have a new secret weapon to keep my skin happy, albeit from France: Vichy’s Minéral 89 ($40). Made with 89 per cent Vichy thermal water (the most the brand has ever packed into one of its skin care products) and hyaluronic acid, it’s essentially a gel version of the thermal water spray we all know in love and leaves your skin hydrated, plumped and oh-so-dewy looking. I apply it after cleansing and toning for a daily boost of moisture. The best part? Since it’s Vichy’s first-ever fragrance-free product (wooo!!), it’s suitable for even the most sensitive of skin and can be used on eyes and lips.
