The Eyeliner Swatches That Stayed on My Hands For Two Days

No, seriously.

Confession: I don’t wear eyeliner that often. I used to, but with age comes wisdom laziness. However, I swatch a lot of eyeliner at my desk. Like, a LOT. It’s very relaxing. In fact, dare I say my left hand might be the most glam part of my body. It spends its days covered in chic eyeliners of all shades and textures. And it doesn’t even do much for me in return! (I’m right-handed.) What a life.

When I leave the office every night, I’m usually almost swatch-free after a day of hand-washing and just like, living. But a few eyeliners have seriously impressed—nay, shocked—me recently. Their level of clinginess is unlike anything I’ve ever seen before. Everywhere I go, there they are, just glaring at me.

So for those of you who still have the energy and lust for life that is required to wear eyeliner daily (bless your hearts), below are the eyeliners that have stayed on my hand all day and night, through a shower, and into the following day. In fact, they may have even lured me into the world of winged liner again. Maybe.

Make Up For Ever Aqua XL Ink Liners

Available in 15 shades and four different finishes (matte, metallic, diamond and lustrous), these liners truly don’t budge. I’ve found the matte finish to be the most long-lasting. The brush comes with a longer-than-most felt tip, which can make them tricky to use, so if you’re after a perfect winged liner, you’ll want to practice first. May I suggest on your hand?

Okay this one isn’t a liner, but trust me it deserves to be on the list. It comes in 13 shades that are totally weightless. I know this because I forgot I had swatches all over my hand and went to a fancy dinner party. And since the Montreal-based organic beauty company uses Argan oil in all its products, the eyeshadows have skincare benefits, including *allegedly* slowing down the aging process.

Lise Watier Dramatique Gel Liner

And finally, the ones that truly had me shook. I swatched the green, champagne and purple shades of these gel liners (yup, they’re not even liquid!) at around 9AM one day, then went to a doctor’s appointment—which I always end with a ton of hand sanitizer because waiting room germs—followed by a full day of work, a workout, and a shower. And the swatches remained. I’m not saying they were perfect, but the pigment was 90% un-smudged. In fact, when I woke up the next morning, the liners hadn’t transferred onto my bedsheets. I’ve found that the black and brown shades don’t last as long, though. Really makes a case for colourful liner this summer, doesn’t it?
