Spring 2017 Beauty Trend Report: The New Ways to Wear Braids

You can always count on braids to make a runway appearance at fashion week each season. Their versatility, aka their ability to quickly transform from schoolgirl staple to intricate works of art, has made them a staple (and beauty editor favourite). That versatility was showcased time and time again on the spring 2017 runways, where designers employed braids to showcase everything from an ethereal softness to cool-girl toughness. Plaits really took a “come one, come all” approach this season.

Tiny braids were scattered all over for a bohemian vibe at Roberto Cavalli. At Creatures of Comfort, a braided ponytail was tucked under to create a simple loop, inspired by Frida Kahlo’s signature ‘do. At Christian Dior, Guido Palau created a beautiful high bun sitting atop four braids, for a playful look.

On the more ethereal side of things were Valentino and Alice+Olivia, who chose loose, fuzzy braids that were, above all else, pretty.

See the many ways braids were worn on the spring runways below.
