The gorgeous beauty trend that completely took over the NYFW Spring 2015 runways
The last half of NYFW has been low on beauty statements. Show after show, makeup teams were barely breaking a sweat while working on models’ faces, focusing instead on perfected skin, groomed brows and shiny eyelids.

At Rag & Bone, Gucci Westman described the look as “very easy, a lot less complicated and more real,” prepping faces with NARS Brightening Concentrate and layering highlighters—Illuminator and Multiple in “Copacabana” on skin as well as eyelids, where she topped them with clear lipgloss.
On Tuesday at Marc by Marc Jacobs, Diane Kendal was creating an “80s rave kids going out dancing” look using light foundation and Marc Jacobs Beauty Twinkle Pop Eye Stick in “Honey Bunny” for a glistening effect and lip balm-ed cheeks for dewiness.
By Wednesday, Kendal was still keeping things suuuper easy at Reed Krakoff where she concentrated on “grooming,” prepping with faces rosewater, applying moisturizer, little bit of foundation and concealer. Again, balm was the MVP, added to lids for shine.
Later that night at Proenza Schouler, Kendal kept the girls “on the boyish side” as per the designers’ request, with flawless skin, filled-in brows and MAC Eye Gloss in “Lightly Tauped” on the lids.
Of course, the real statement arrived at the very end of NYFW at Marc Jacobs, where instead of dabs of balm and concealer here and there, Francois Nars decided to be literal and use no makeup at all. “Not even foundation?” asked one editor in the scrum, incredulously. “Nothing, just nothing,” answered Nars, saying he felt it worked with the Joey Ramone-inspired wigs as well as liking the idea that it made a strong statement to go completely bare-faced. “I think it’s very sophisticated. Especially nowadays in 2014, it’s great we are able to do that. You know in the 60s, the 40s, women had to wear makeup. It was almost like a rule. Today there are no rules. You can do anything you want.”
